Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) has finally launched the highly-anticipated refreshed Toyota Fortuner. The all-diesel lineup is headlined by the new LTD variant in 4x4 and 4x2, followed by Q and V variants in an automatic transmission, and the G variant available in AT and MT.

- Compared to competitors at the same price, the Toyota Fortuner 2019 Philippines creates a sense of class difference while still bringing masculinity but at the same time still has curved lines. Also, the TRD Sportivo variant has been introduced. The variant is not only equipped with a TRD sports body kit but also 18-inch wheels as well as a variety of decals.
During the online launch, TMP President Atsuhiro Okamoto recalled how the Fortuner changed the local automotive landscape at a time when entry-level sedans and Asian utility vehicles were the affordable crowd favorite.

It has an SUV body perfect for the Philippines’ flood-prone streets, an array of variants including a fuel-efficient diesel engine, a macho look that satisfies desires, and most of all, an affordable price – making it an achievable dream!” said Okamoto.
“The new Fortuner is SMARTER, STRONGER, and SAFER than ever! With its refreshed line-up led by the top-of-the-line premium LTD grade, the country’s best-selling SUV just got better!” he added.
TMP has sold over 220,000 Fortuners since it was first launched in 2005. It was crowned the best-selling vehicle in the country in 2017, and just this August, the model dominated the mid-sized SUV category with over 30% market share.
Design
With the 2020 update, the Fortuner gets more confident, prestigious, safe, further proving itself a formidable and reliable SUV, perfect for any city or off-road drive.
The top-of-the-line LTD variant comes with a 2-tone color black roof color lineup, new front, and rear bumpers, and machine-cut 18” alloy wheels. It is also decked with split-type LED headlamps and LED front foglamps, sequential turn signal lamps, and redesigned LED rear combination lamps that give the LTD variant a more dynamic design while maintaining visibility on the road.
Not far behind are the Q and V variants that also get LED foglamps and redesigned LED rear combination lamps, as well as Bi-Beam, LED Headlamps with LED Line Guide - Daytime Running Lights. The G variants come with Bi-Beam LED Headlamps with LED DRL.
Inside, the LTD variant features an elegant interior in leather with maroon accents, as well as galaxy black trim and interior illumination that adds to the sophisticated interior look of the vehicle. The Q variant also gets the classy black leather interior complemented by dark wood trim.
Creature Comforts
Ingress is smooth and easy with Smart Entry and Push Start System for LTD, Q, and V grades. LTD and Q variants also have 8-Way Power Adjust front seats, and Front Seat Ventilation System for the LTD variant.
While an Apple CarPlay and Android Auto-compatible audio system are standard across all variants, the LTD, Q, and V variants feature 8” display audio, and the LTD variants get to enjoy their sounds via its 9-speaker JBL sound system. Power
The New Fortuner LTD and Q variants are powered by the 1GD-FTV engine which gives 201hp maximum output and 500 Nm of torque, while the V and G variants have the 2GD-FTV engine which gives 147hp (150Ps) max output and 400 Nm max torque. The 2GD engine has been tweaked and now enjoys a 5% improvement in fuel efficiency versus the previous generation Fortuner.
For more control, drive mode select is available with a press of a button - Eco and Sport for LTD and Q variants, Eco, and Power for V and G variants.
Toyota Safety Sense
With safety as Toyota’s utmost priority, the New Fortuner is the latest addition to the expanding Toyota Safety Sense (TSS)-equipped models in TMP’s official lineup. Made better and safer than ever, TSS settings previously featured in select Toyota models such as the Pre-Collision System, Lane Departure Alert, and Adaptive Cruise Control are now available for the Fortuner LTD and Q.
All variants come with SRS airbags (7 for the LTD variants), 3-pt. ELR seatbelts, Anti-Lock Brake System with Brake Assist and Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, Vehicle Stability Control with Traction Control, and Hill-Start Assist Control. The 4x4 LTD variant also has Downhill Assist Control.
All variants also come with a total of 6 clearance and back sonars, in addition to the Panoramic View Monitor that comes with the LTD, Q, and V variants or reverse camera for the G variants.

Toyota Fortuner 4x2 V 2020 Philippines Sale
The all-new Toyota Fortuner has been launched in Philippines at a starting price of PHP 1.386 million (INR 19.64 lakhs). It is offered in seven colours - Phantom Brown Metallic, Avant-Garde Bronze Metallic, Silver Metallic, Super White, Attitude Black Mica, Gray Metallic, White Pearl. The last colour costs an additional amount of PHP 15,000 (INR 21,256).

Offered with three engine choices, two fuel types, two transmission options, two drive configurations, and two trim levels, the new Fortuner is characterised by an all-new design that incorporates LED head lamps with DRLs, LED turn indicators on side mirrors, LED tail lamps, rear spoiler and 18-inch alloy wheels. The interior gets leather upholstery, 8-way electric driver’s seat, electrically adjustable and foldable outside mirrors, 8-inch touchscreen-equipped infotainment system, automatic climate control, rear AC vents, Smart Key entry, engine Start/Stop button and cruise control.
The petrol variant of the Fortuner is powered by the 2TR-FE 2.7-litre four-cylinder Dual VVT-i engine that produces 166 hp at 5,200 rpm and 245 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm. The entry-level diesel version gets the 2GD-FTV 2.4-litre diesel motor that generates 150 hp at 3,400 rpm and 400 Nm of torque between 1,600 rpm and 2,000 rpm. The top-end Fortuner is powered by the 1GD-FTV 2.8-litre mill that has an output of 177 hp at 3,400 rpm and 450 Nm of torque from 1,600 to 2,400 rpm. Except the entry-level Fortuner that comes with the 2.4-litre diesel motor paired with a six-speed manual transmission, all the variants are offered with a 6-speed automatic gearbox.
